How to care for your RC Leotard | Washing & maintenance guide

Your RC Leotard is crafted with high-quality materials and delicate embellishments, so proper care is essential to maintain its look and longevity. Hologram, mystic, mesh, and rhinestone fabrics are sensitive and may show wear over time. This is not considered a defect. Sweat, deodorants, and improper washing can also affect fabric quality.

Leotard Washing Instructions

Machine Wash (Recommended):

  • Wash inside out, separately, on a cold, gentle cycle.
  • Use a laundry bag if possible.
  • Spin at high speed (1000+ rpm) to remove excess water.
  • Add mild liquid detergent, a color catcher cloth, and a small amount of vinegar for color protection.
  • Remove immediately after washing and hang to dry on a hanger.
  • If too wet, roll between two towels before hanging.

Avoid These Mistakes:

  • Do not soak, wring, scrub, bleach, or tumble dry.
  • Do not use fabric softener, as it weakens adhesives and may cause rhinestones to fall off.
  • Do not iron your leotard.

Hand Wash Alternative:
If hand washing, follow the same precautions—use a color catcher cloth, avoid wringing, and roll the leotard in a towel before hanging it to dry.

💡 Pro Tip: Always remove your leotard from your gym bag immediately after training to prevent sweat damage.

By following these care instructions, your RC Leotard will stay vibrant and beautiful for longer! 💎💖

🔹 Important information about sublimated fabrics | RC Leotards

At RC Leotards, we strive to stay on top of the latest trends. Sublimated fabrics allow for stunning, unique designs and have become highly popular in gymnastics. However, it’s important to understand the specific care needs and limitations of these materials.

⚠️ Sublimated fabric warning

Sublimated leotards start as smooth white lycra, meaning they are more prone to pilling and damage from rough surfaces such as:

  • Gymnastics mats
  • Velcro
  • Concrete
  • Other abrasive materials

If pilling occurs or the print gets damaged, the white base fibers may become visible, making imperfections more noticeable than on other fabrics. While we continuously strive to improve our production techniques and use the highest quality materials, pilling and fabric wear are unavoidable. RC Leotards does not accept responsibility for repairs or replacements due to pilling or damage.

🎨 Color bleeding & fabric care

When dark and light fabrics are combined in a design, color bleeding may occur, especially with high-risk color combinations. While we take precautions, we cannot guarantee against color bleeding.

💡 To minimize the risk, all RC Leotards are pre-washed with vinegar and a color catcher before sale. If you notice color bleeding, follow these steps immediately:
1️⃣ Wash the leotard with a color run remover (such as Dr. Beckmann’s).
2️⃣ Wash again with mild detergent, vinegar, and a color catcher cloth.
3️⃣ Dry properly – never leave a wet leotard hanging, as this may cause further bleeding. If too wet, roll it between two towels before hanging.

⚠️ Be cautious with deodorants, as certain ingredients can contribute to color bleeding, especially under the arms.

By following these care instructions, you can keep your sublimated leotard looking its best for as long as possible! 💎✨
