Did you know that RC Leotards all started with a single spark of curiosity—and a whole lot of love for gymnastics?
The Story Behind RC Leotards
Before RC Leotards ever existed, I worked as a nurse with a bachelor’s degree and as a surgical assistant. I was on 24-hour shifts, worked weekends, and life was busy. My husband was working a lot as well and often relaxed by watching football or playing games. At home, I had two young children, and as much as I loved them—I missed having something that was truly mine.
Where It All Started
Coming from a background in elite artistic gymnastics, it’s no surprise that seeing my own little ones run around brought back the sparkle. Even though we had promised ourselves we wouldn’t push them into high-level gymnastics, I couldn’t help but feel that familiar itch… to see them in beautiful leotards.
So I started making them.
With the help of my mother—who used to sew my training leotards as a hobby—and my mother-in-law, who has a background in fashion and textiles, I had a wealth of experience to call upon. I still remember laying out the first designs, completely hand-placing each rhinestone because I didn’t even have a rhinestone applicator yet.
My First Client
At the same time, I was in touch with a girl I had known through gymnastics years earlier. She told me that her club was searching for new team leotards, but their current design was so good they didn’t think it could be topped. On a whim, I offered: “Shall I design something for you?”
Her reply was simple: “Can you even do that?”
“Uhh… I think so? I’ve never done it for a whole team, but I could start with a few try-on suits and sketches?”
It felt like play. Like something just for me. I poured all my creative energy into that design and made the first set of leotards completely by hand. No rhinestone applicator, no fancy machinery. Just passion and lots of sparkle.
The Turning Point
And… they loved it.
The team wore their new leotards to a national competition. And then the magic happened—within a single weekend, I received three phone calls from gymnastics clubs in the north of the country. They had seen my designs and wanted something similar for their teams.
It was surreal. Could I actually do this? Did I want to? Absolutely.
RC Leotards Was Born
That weekend changed everything. It gave me the confidence to go all in. I started learning more, refining my work, buying tools, making mistakes (lots of them!), and being transparent with every club I worked with.
RC Leotards was born.
Where We Are Now
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of designing and creating custom leotards for many amazing clubs. I’ve grown from individually placing rhinestones by hand to offering high-end production with rhinestone applicators, sublimation printing, digital designs, and scalable orders.
But I’ll never forget where it all started:
A young gymnast mom, a sewing machine, a few rolls of lycra—and a heart full of sparkle.
